The Times has a piece on Law & Order: Criminal Intent , and it is a sad one: it seems that the show’s shortened eight-episode 10th Season may very well be its last. USA has billed it as the “final season,” and most of the cast and crew seemed resigned to their fate, though some, such as Kathryn Erbe (who plays Det. Alexandra Eames), are in denial. “ To have a show in New York go down is not good for New York…The fact that we managed to do these eight more episodes gives a lot of people eight more episodes of income ,” said Vince D’Onofrio, aka Det. Robert Goran. [ more › ]

Donald Trump was a controversial love-him-or-hate-him figure way before an attention-garnering fake presidential run was even a glimmer in his eye. But what other sorts of reactions could you expect from someone who “had aspired to and achieved the ultimate luxury, an existence unmolested by the rumbling of a soul”? Since he started his historically dumb “campaign,” and in particular, began chugging the birther kool-aid, he has succeeded in enraging people from every walk of life, from comedians to TV hosts to entire countries. But who hates The Donald the most? Click through as we take a look at some of Trump’s greatest enemies. [ more › ]

Err…right. We were obviously wrong about the batmobile going green for Earth Day. Tipster @Ewingweber sent these photos to EV Grieve , taken on East 10th Street just east of Second Avenue this morning. You can see more photos of the strange car, which depicts Batman standing on some wolves, there. Could this be a hint at the next Batman redesign ? No, it cannot. It would make for a pretty cool Taxi of Tomorrow design though. And Batman having his own wolfpack does sound like the high concept stuff of summer-movie-mashup millions, maybe ala one of those classic Abbott and Costello films. By now, we think we’re all quite comfortable admitting that NYC is really the rats’ fiefdom—we’re just renting their property, riding their subways, and stuffing our mouths full with them in a desperate bid for some semblance of control. But according to BBC/Discovery Channels excellent Human Planet , there’s at least one rat for every person in NYC. The show will explore the Big Apple’s rat population in this Sunday’s episode . Below, you can check out a clip from it, in which pest control firm M&M Environmental explores the basement of one unnamed East Village restaurant. It makes you think extra hard about where you’re ordering out from, to say the least. [ more › ]

A toxicologist in the NYC Medical Examiner’s office testified that the woman who claims a NYPD cop raped her (and another stood watch) could have had a blood alcohol level as high as four times the legal limit. When asked if the accuser could have been unable to move while being raped, Michael McGee said , “The effects you’re describing are certainly effects that have been observed.” [ more › ]

The 8-year-old boy who brought a loaded gun to his Queens school and sold it to a classmate for $3.50 faces charges of weapons possession. So is his father, Ignacio Galvan, who kept the gun for protection and hid it on a top shelf. According to court papers, Galvan said , “I can’t believe my son took it to school. Thank God no one was hurt. It’s all my fault.” Many agree with him. [ more › ]

Outside of the re-posts of ephemeral Internet regurgitation, Reddit truly is chockfull of great content! And some of the best of that content can be found in the AMA/IAmA section, where everyone from Stephen Colbert to Anthony Weiner to someone who was horrifically abused by their mother will take questions about their lives. Yesterday, a three-year NYC Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) veteran took questions , offered anecdotes, and gave insights into his fast-paced job (he offered photographic proof as well). Some highlights of the conversation below: [ more › ]

Mayor Bloomberg said he supports City Council’s measure to reduce alternate sides parking for streets that keep themselves clean, but Bloomberg apparently thinks New Yorkers could get confused. “The more exceptions you have … then nobody can remember [the rules],” he said. [ more › ]

Last week, Roger McDowell, the magic loogie spitter and former pitcher on the World Champion ’86 Mets team, allegedly unloaded a series of homophobic slurs at three baseball fans, then threatened a father, in front of his two daughters, in a graphic manner. McDowell, the current pitching coach for the Atlanta Braves, apologized for the incident, but it wasn’t enough for father Justin Quinn, who hired Gloria Allred to represent him. They wanted a harsher punishment for him, so they staged a surreal press conference to publicly shame McDowell and reenact the events—and as you can watch below, there is something very, very weird about repeatedly simulating anal sex with a baseball bat in front of two nine-year-olds: [ more › ]
