The NYPD issued this advisory last night: “NYPD tactical exercise Wednesday. Heavy-weapons uniformed officers will be seen in the vicinity of Lincoln Center at 8:30 a.m. ” According to 1010 WINS , “Members of the NYPD Hercules Unit will be heavily armed wearing extra heavy vests and Kevlar helmets while carrying automatic weapons. The practice session is meant to increase the unit’s preparedness in the event of a real terrorist attack.”
