Alex Rodriguez (calf) and Nick Swisher (forearm) both left the game but are listed as day-to-day. With Texas’ win at Tampa Bay, the Yankes are once again tied for first. Mets 3, Astros 1: Hours after the Mets announced Francisco Rodriguez needed tendon surgery on a hand he most likely injured beating up his girlfriend’s father, the team got a win. Jon Niese pitched seven innings of one-run ball — striking out five and walking none — but didn’t hang around long enough for the decision. The Mets got two runs — one on a wild pitch, one on a Jeff Francoeur triple — in the ninth to open their road trip in style. A Carlos Beltran homer accounted for the other run.
