Six Months Later, Swoon Looks At Haiti

Last night Honey Space , an art space run by Tom Beale at 148 11th Avenue, hosted A Picture of Haiti: Six Months Later (but you knew that, because you subscribe to our indispensable newsletter). Before getting in to the serious stuff, however, did you know that Honey Space used to be a sex club in the 1970s and 80s? Okay, so the event served as a reminder that six months after the devastating earthquake hit Haiti, the area is still in need of help. Swoon—who in May told us her top priority was a rebuild project in Haiti—and collaborator Ben Wolf were on hand discussing their Konbit Shelter project, which seeks to build durable community shelter in Barrier Jeudi before the rainy season sets in; joining them were representatives from organizations like charity: water and Partners in Health. Luckily, photographer Sam Horine was in attendance last night to capture a bit of the atmosphere.
