After being accused of—but not charged —raping an unidentified young woman in her Manhattan office, Greg Kelly— son of NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly and co-host of a”Good Day New York”—has been laying low. Kelly has denied the allegation through his attorney and not spoken publicly, but behind the scenes, sources have been talking to the press. Yesterday it was revealed that the woman had an abortion after her boozy encounter with Kelly, and now some are saying the Manhattan DA has doubts about the case. Of course, it goes without saying that all these unidentified sources talking to the tabloids may be people inside the NYPD with an interest in protecting the Commissioner’s son. [ more › ]

Yesterday, the New York Post reported that attorneys representing Occupy Wall Street had dropped their appeal against the city and Brookfield Properties which sought to allow camping in Zuccotti Park. The piece included triumphant quotes from attorney Randy Mastro, who was representing downtown businesses, as well as an attorney for the city. Alan Levine, the attorney representing Occupy Wall Street who argued the case in court on November 15, explained to us why he and his colleagues dropped the case: “We’ve gotten everything from the city and Brookfield that we wanted…they conceded that access to Zuccotti is unfettered.” [ more › ]

A Brooklyn man has been sentenced to 72 years in prison for raping (and impregnating) the 11-year-old daughter of his former girlfriend. Gerald Hatcher, 47, was convicted in August of four counts of rape and sexual abuse against the victim, who is now 13. “He has not accepted responsibility and has denied his involvement since the beginning despite clear DNA evidence,” Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Doerfler wrote in a presentencing letter. All Charges Dropped Against Customer-Bashing McDonald’s Cashier

A jury has voted to dismiss all charges against the McDonald’s cashier who used a metal rod to beat up two customers who slapped him and then jumped over the counter at the West Village location in October. According to DNAInfo , the jury agreed that 31-year-old Rayon McIntosh was acting in self-defense during the altercation on October 13. “Over the last 11 days the grand jury considered the evidence and voted to dismiss in the interest of justice,” Assistant District Attorney Jaime Mendoza said. “We ask Mr. McIntosh be freed.” [ more › ]

According to WABC 7 , “The men, drivers in Queens, had reportedly been driving with suspended licenses, in one instance for more than 15 years.
