The Brooklyn Paper has an update about the vandalism at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Williamsburg. Because a statue of the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus were defaced with what looks like Kiss masks that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley wear, 94th Precinct Commanding Officer Deputy Inspector Terence Hurson said , “ We are looking for a KISS fan .” In other words: TOTALLY Kiss Army. Greg Kelly’s Rape Accuser Has Family Ties To NYPD, Too

This week, Greg Kelly, son of NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly and co-host of “Good Day New York,” was accused of—but not charged with—raping an unidentified young woman in her Manhattan office. It’s now been revealed that the rape accuser, a 30-year-old law firm employee who the Post describes as “an aspiring model and actress,” also has family ties to the NYPD— the Post reports that her brother is a crime-scene investigator for the NYPD who previously worked in the Internal Affairs Bureau. And it seems she was inspired to report the alleged rape because of Kelly’s famous dad encouraging New Yorkers to come forward to report all crimes: “Her boyfriend was telling her, ‘You see, even his father is telling people to report crime,’” a source told DNAinfo. Most Of Admiral’s Row To Be Torn Down Monday

For years we’ve been discussing the fate of the Brooklyn Navy Yard’s beloved 19th-century houses that make up Admiral’s Row . Our own Jake Dobkin even risked life and limb to get inside and document the houses in their beautiful decay , as the city talked of plans for leveling them. Despite protests to salvage the Row, it looks like its destiny is destruction, and this Monday nine of the eleven structures will be cleared, with two—the Timber Shed and Quarters B—being restored “for daily use,” according to the NY Times . These have now been “transferred by the federal government to the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, which manages the old 300-acre yard, now an industrial park of 275 businesses.” [ more › ]

As Yogi Berra might say, it’s deja vu all over again: over 25 Occupy Wall Street protesters have been arrested today at a foreclosure auction protest in Brooklyn this afternoon. According to John Knefel, over 80 people crammed into Brooklyn Supreme Court to sing songs and blockade the foreclosure sales, and it seemingly worked: “4 cops just said the auction was cancelled. #ows now being forced to leave. could it be a ruse? #blockade.” Check out a video of protesters singing in the courthouse here, and below.
