Whole Foods Tries To Convince Gowanus New Store Will Be "Community Center"

For over eight years now, Whole Foods has been trying to get a new location in Gowanus off the ground . The company removed the toxic waste from the 4.2-acre site on the corner of Third Street and Third Avenue, and promises the establishment will feature a 20,000-square-foot rooftop greenhouse, and a charging station for electric cars. You’d think it would be welcomed with open arms by those Brooklyn residents who don’t belong to the Park Slope Food Co-Op , but Whole Foods is still trying to persuade the community it’s going to be a great neighbor. NYC Star Map Feeds Your Healthy Celebrity Worship

Bedbug history and square-footage is important, but the most crucial aspect of choosing an apartment is its proximity to celebrities. No Booze For Smorgasburg, For Now :(

Since it launched last year the Brooklyn Flea food-only offshoot Smorgasburg has been an unqualified success. But you know what would make it (and most things) better? Local booze. Snow Tonight, Cold This Weekend

It is looking more and more like we’ll get a touch of winter this weekend. First, though, today is going to be mostly sunny and mild with a high in the mid to upper 40s. The high pressure system bringing the mild weather will move offshore later today, paving the way for tonight’s storm. That storm is a weak low pressure system over Texas at the moment. It will rapidly move east and then strengthen and move up the coast as the day progresses. [ more › ]

PETA Not Happy With Bondage Doggies, Human Porn OK

For all the fashion work they do, you’d think PETA would appreciate the canine self-empowerment that can only be experienced with haute couture, but apparently the organization wasn’t happy with Vice’s doggie fashion show on Wednesday night. “Bondage, chains, and choke collars belong in the bedroom with consenting, human adults,” PETA spokeswoman Wendy Wegner tells us. But a source at Vice tells us the safe word of the night, “Woof,” was never uttered! [ more › ]
