Last Night’s Actions: Better Late Than Never

Marian Gaborik had two goals and Brad Richards netted the game-winner with one-tenth of a second remaining as the Rangers stunned the Coyotes, 3-2, in Arizona. . The loss snapped a two-game losing streak that had seen the Rangers score only one goal in 120 minutes. The Rangers trailed by a goal entering the third period, but Gaborik scored early in the period before Richards’ game-winner. Video replay was needed, but the Rangers got the two points. [ more › ]

Last Night’s Action: Devils Explode in Win

What warmed up the Devils, who entered Monday’s game losers of five of seven? How about the even-colder Lightning. New Jersey won, 5-4, with five different players scoring. Zach Parise and Adam Henrique both had a goal and two assists. Petr Sykora, Ilya Kovalchuk and Dainius Zubrus had the other goals. The Devils led, 2-0, after five minutes, 38 seconds but gave that lead back before the first intermission. They then blew the game open in the second and were never in danger of losing despite two third-period Lightning goals. [ more › ]

Last Night’s Action: No Road Wins for Devils or Isles

Wild 4, Devils 2 : It was not a good night for Martin Brodeur as the Devils netminder didn’t last past the first period in Friday night’s game. The Devils took an early one-goal lead on a Zach Parise goal, but the Wild quickly took the lead with three consecutive goals, chasing Brodeur out of the game after just eight minutes of play. While New Jersey would add another goal, they were never able to overcome the three-goal flurry. [ more › ]

TSA Strip Searches 85-Year-Old Grandma At JFK Airport

Oh, TSA. Today, the Daily News reports that an 85-year-old woman was strip-searched earlier this week right before a flight to Fort Lauderdale—and she’s really unhappy. Lenore Zimmerman, who lives on Long Island, says, “I walk with a walker — I really look like a terrorist. I’m tiny. I weigh 110 pounds, 107 without clothes”—with her hunched back, she’s 4’11″—”and I was strip-searched.” See her photograph here —and naturally, Zimmerman is thinking about a lawsuit, especially since the ordeal left her bloodied up. Eli Heads Home To Big Easy For Difficult Game

Eli Manning takes the Giants into his native New Orleans tonight and the team is going to need him to elevate his game even further. Facing a very good Saints club, New York has once again been decimated by injuries. Left tackle, Will Beatty, is out with a detached retina, necessitating a move back to the position by David Diehl. Kevin Boothe will move into Diehl’s left guard spot. Michael Boley and Ahmad Bradshaw will also miss the game, leaving two rookies starting at linebacker and the ineffective Brandon Jacobs to run the ball. Finally, Mario Manningham has not practiced all week and remains a game-time decision. [ more › ]

Video: Introducing "The Plaxico Burress Nightclub Shooting" Touchdown Celebration

They may have looked a bit unsure of themselves , but the Jets were able to hold on for a much-needed win over divisional rivals the Buffalo Bills this afternoon, 28-24. Putting aside Mark Sanchez’s career-high four TD’s, perhaps the most notable play of the game came on a touchdown by Bills receiver Steve Johnson. He celebrated a score late in the first half by mocking Jets receiver Plaxico Burress , pretending to shoot himself in the leg. Watch below. [ more › ]

Video: "Man In White Dress" Preaches Joy At Astor Place

We’ve noticed the so-called “man in white dress” popping up in lower Manhattan more and more the past few months, particular near The Cube at Astor Place. And it turns out that he is none other than performance artist Matthew Silver , who you may recall from the great Earwax-clown war of 2008. In the video below, watch as Silver amuses some passersby with one of his shows, which includes a song about “how it’s OK to be gay.” [ more › ]

Last Night’s Action: Who Needs Basketball?

It was easy to see that the Flyers and Rangers do not like each other. Just four seconds into the game, the gloves came off and they did so again later in the first period. But things settled down after that and New York came away with a 2-0 victory . The game had plenty of subplots, but one that didn’t materialize was Jaromir Jagr’s return to MSG. Jagr was a scratch with an injury, but with two more home games remaining against Philadelphia, it seems certain that Rangers’ fans will get a chance to “welcome” Jaromir back to New York. Last Night’s Action: Terrible

The Giants shot themselves in the foot Sunday night with a horrible 17-10 loss to Philadelphia. Not surprisingly, there’s plenty of blame to go around in this game. Eli Manning wasn’t terrible, but his fourth quarter fumble was a killer. The Giants’ receivers did almost nothing to help Eli as they dropped passes all over the field. The Giants’ offensive line was miserable, giving Eli almost no time to pass and failing to open up any holes for the rushing game. [ more › ]
