In the Times Real Estate section this weekend an enterprising Kips Bay resident wrote in to suggest that the small neighborhood next to Murray Hell Hill be renamed NoEVil. Astoria Gets Desperately-Needed Greek Restaurant, Thymari

Astoria needs another Greek restaurant like the European Union needs another broke Mediterranean country to support, but we guess there’s always room for one more. Introducing Thymari , a new restaurant on 34th Ave that promises to “span centuries of classic Greek cooking.” The owner is Konstantinos Batalamas, who grew up in northern Greece and moved to NYC in 1999 to work for HBO. He says the menu “draws from recipes from all over Greece, both in the well-traveled cities to the remote peasant-heavy outer reaches,” he hopes Thymari will create “a timeline of Greek cuisine, where each different geographical region of Greece is represented.” [ more › ]
