Click here to view the full photogallery. Location: San Francisco, Calif. Price: $8,850,000 The Skinny: Commissioned by “a prominent lawyer and San Francisco Mayoral candidate” in 1894, this gray-and-white Victorian occupies a prized corner on one of San Francisco’s best streets, a section of Broadway known as “Billionaire’s Row.” Compared to some of the other sprawling mansions on the street, this one is a bit cheaper, even at $8.85M, but still enjoys spectacular downhill views from the upper levels. Measuring over 7,000 square feet, this four-story manse boasts six bedrooms, five bathrooms, and yards upon yards of original details. Wood paneling and beamed ceilings line the entertaining rooms, where the furnishings lose the historic plot. The updated kitchen, too, is a less than convincing historic replica, though at this price point a renovation is never out of the question. According to our colleagues over at Curbed SF, this place has been on and off the MLS over the past few months. Perhaps the owners just aren’t quite ready to part with it. · 2500 Broadway Street [Zillow] · Pacific Heights: Handsome Victorian Takes $650K Off the Top, Maybe, Almost [Curbed SF]

The court-appointed attorney for alleged cop shooter Luis “Baby” Ortiz said his client was beaten while he was in police custody. At Ortiz’s arraignment yesterday, lawyer Eric Poulos surprised no one by accusing cops of roughing up his client after he was arrested, bruising his face and chipping a tooth. “He was struck by police officers’ fists, both at the scene and at the station house hours after,” Poulos told the judge yesterday . Considering all the other horrible things that can happen to a perp while in police custody, it sounds like the alleged cop shooter got off easy. [ more › ]

Location: Northeast Harbor, Maine Price: $9,975,000 The Skinny: The collection of stately homes along Somes Sound that form the preppy enclave known as Northeast Harbor are grand summer “cottages”, even by the standard of Mount Desert Island. This Gambrel-roofed mansion, set on 3.27 waterfront acres, enjoys a particularly favorable location, with both a dock and a less-than-common private beach, along with sweeping water views. The four-bedroom, 4700-square-foot main house is joined on the property by a dockside guest cottage, separated by well-maintained, if not formal, grounds. Listed for nearly $10M, this seaside manse is looking for a member of the private jet set, as Northeast Harbor is more than five hours from Boston, and nine hours from NYC, by car. · Moosewood [Knowles Co.]

Price: $11,750,000 The Skinny: Located in the tony Hudson Valley enclave of Ardsley-on-Hudson, this supremely elegant Italianate mansion is being offered for the first time in 80 years. Unlike many such sales, usually prompted by a death in the family, this utterly immaculate estate has been maintained to perfection, aided by the superior construction. It is said that the Caen limestone blocks were laid so tightly that even today it’s impossible to fit a penknife between them. Built on a 65 acre plot in 1852 by Manhattan merchant Francis Cottenet, Nuits, as the house is known, then eventually passed to John Jacob Astor III, who also maintained homes in NYC—on the future site of the Empire State Building—and Newport, R.I. Renovated over a period of 20 years, from 1980 to 2000, the 10-bedroom, 14,000-square-foot estate is today listed for $11.75M. · 2 Clifton Place [Zillow]
